Regional basketball action tips-off Wednesday

Both Nashville High School basketball teams won their games Saturday at the 7-4A District Tournament. The Scrapperettes defeated Bauxite, 70 to 37 Saturday night, to claim the district tournament title. Nashville’s only two losses this season have come against significantly larger schools, North Little Rock and Greenwood.
Earlier in the day Saturday, the Scrappers defeated De Queen in the consolation round game, 68 to 56. Nashville trailed at halftime by five points, but outscored the Leopards in the second half, 47 to 30.
Both local teams advance to the regional tournament this week, being hosted at Scrapper Arena. The Scrapperettes first game is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock. The Scrappers will open regional tournament play Thursday night at 8:30.
Regional Tournaments will also be hosted this week in Mineral Springs and Dierks, with boys teams from both schools being a number seed.
