Registration – Poultry Feeding Operations
The Natural Resources Division as well as the Mine Creek Conservation District is reminding all involved with Poultry Feeding Operations that the annual registration for such is currently underway and required to be completed by March 31st. This registration affects Poultry Feeding Operation of those who work with 2,500 or more confined fowl. This registration program enacted in 2003 by Act 1060 serves the purpose of collecting information on the number and type of poultry raised and the practices therein. It also serves to reduce the overabundance of both phosphorus and nitrogen that threaten our water resources, while minimizing the impact on fertilizer users. Every poultry producer is required to register with the fee for doing such being $10. Fines for failing to comply may be assessed up to $500. In Howard County the registration process is done through the Mine Creek Conservation District. For more information or to register they can be contacted at 870-455-3201
