Reminder: Southwest Arkansas Homesteading Conference Set for Saturday

The Southwest Arkansas Homesteading Conference will be held this Saturday, and organizers are reminding residents to make plans to attend this educational event focused on homesteading skills and family involvement.

KMTB and KNAS talked with Samantha Horn of Howard County 4-H, Eva Langley, Pike County Family and Consumer Sciences Agent and Staff Chair, and Codie McAlister, Pike County Agriculture Agent, about what participants can expect.

Horn began by explaining the overall goals of the program and how the conference is designed to provide practical education and hands-on learning opportunities for individuals and families interested in homesteading and self-sufficiency.

Langley highlighted the Kids Camp that will be offered during the event, giving children an opportunity to participate in interactive, age-appropriate activities throughout the day.

Horn added more details about the Kids Camp experience and what children can expect to learn while attending.

To wrap up the interview, McAlister discussed the agricultural topics she will be teaching at the conference and explained what a high tunnel is and how it can benefit growers by extending the growing season and improving production.
