Rotarians learn about Career Coaches from UA Cossatot
UA Cossatot Director of High School Programs, Julie Rhodes and the career coaches from Nashville High School, Ashdown High School and De Queen High School were the guest speakers at this week’s Nashville Rotary meeting.
Rhodes reported the program started in 2013 and is funded by a yearly grant. She said the grant pays half of the salary of the career coach and the school district pays the other half.
Nashville High School career coach, Amy Westfall stated she starts working with 8th graders in their career education class. Westfall said she works with the students through graduation to help ensure they are taking the appropriate classes and meeting deadlines for applications. Westfall said career coaches work along side the school counselors by focusing on ACT, financial aid, college concurrent classes and technical programs.
