Rotary Club med Wednesday afternoon with speaker Dr. Steve Cole presenting. Dr. Cole is the Chancellor of the Nashville University of Arkansas Cossatot campus and spoke with Rotary about a few of the things going on with the university. The first was the success of the Trucking Academy which launched about a month ago. Within days of the launch Cole said enrollment was booming. With such a shortage of drivers available in Arkansas Cole hopes that in months and years to come this program will help serve as a successful resource for trucking companies to find viable candidates for this line of work. Plans to scale up the operation are in the works but he says that will take time to accomplish. Cole also made mention of a 2.4 megawatt solar array that is being planned for installation on the Nashville campus. This project, which is pending board approval, would be a cooperative initiative between UA and Rich Mountain Electric. UA is also planning on expanding its involvement with soccer as Cole said this is a growing opportunity within our area.
