Pike County Assessor Postpones Poultry House Valuation Meeting

The Pike County Assessor’s office is postponing the informational meeting about the recent Poultry House Valuation changes that was scheduled for October 1st. Pike County Assessor Beckie Alden says the new values do not apply until 2022.

“I believe for Pike County with the new values not applying for three more years (2022) it would be premature to do it now and frankly a bit confusing. As our reappraisal year approaches we will look to schedule a meeting.”

Assessor Alden says the taxes will not double unless voter approved.

“Unless the voters pass a big millage rate increase, I can reassure you that your taxes are not doubling. With the Taxpayer Relief Act (Amendment 79) your actual taxable value is capped at how much it can increase. That is our protection as taxpayers.”
