SAU Student Honored as Overall Ag Student of the Year

A student who graduated from Southern Arkansas University this past weekend was recently recognized for her hard work and dedication to the agriculture industry. Kalli Smith, an agriculture business student at SAU, was named the Overall Ag Student of the Year during the university’s 2026 Ag Formal.

KMTB and KNAS recently spoke with Smith prior to graduation about how she first became involved in agriculture and what inspired her passion for the industry.

Smith reflected on being selected for the award and shared how meaningful the recognition is as she continues her studies and involvement in agriculture.

During the interview, she also discussed the qualities and efforts she believes helped set her apart throughout the year.

Smith went on to highlight some of her favorite parts of being involved in agriculture, along with the activities and experiences she is most proud to have participated in.

As she looks toward the future, Smith said she plans to remain active in the agriculture field and continue pursuing opportunities within the industry.
