Scrapper Coaches Preview Promising 2025 Season at Rotary Club

Head softball coach Brian “Boomer” Brown and baseball coach Zac Stewart addressed the Nashville Rotary Club this week, offering a preview of the upcoming 2025 season.

Brown introduced three of his eight seniors — Landyn Tompkins, Rayleigh Harmon and Elli Wallis — noting that all three have been starters since their freshman year. He explained that only seven players in program history have started as freshmen, and three of those are seniors on this year’s roster.

Brown also highlighted the program’s dominance in conference play in recent years, reporting that the Scrapperettes have outscored league opponents 523-26 over the past several seasons. He expressed confidence in this year’s squad and shared his expectations for another strong campaign.

In addition, Brown mentioned that visiting teams enjoy competing at Futrell Field and at Nashville City Park, praising the facilities and game-day atmosphere.

Stewart said the Scrappers will open the season on the road Tuesday at Hooks, Texas. The team is scheduled to compete in three tournaments this spring: the Ralph Gross Tournament in Nashville, a tournament at Prairie Grove and the Robinson Tournament during spring break.

While acknowledging that the conference is highly competitive, Stewart said he likes the makeup of his roster, which includes 32 players and eight returning starters.

Stewart also gave Rotary members an overview of the conference landscape and discussed several of the top contenders across the state.

Both programs face demanding schedules this season, but as Stewart noted, spring schedules in Arkansas often depend on the weather — making them “more of a suggestion than a guarantee.”
