Scrapperettes advance to state finals in 4A basketball tournament
For only the second time in school history, the Nashville Scrapperettes have secured a spot in the state basketball championship game. Nashville advanced to the 4A title contest Monday afternoon, with a 49 to 44 double overtime win against Pulaski Academy.
Known for their tenacious defense, the Scrapperettes were plagued with foul trouble most of the game due the frequency of fouls called in the first half. Nashville was held to just two points in the entire 4th quarter and missed several free throws during the overtime play. Coach Paul Dean said good teams find a way to overcome adversity during a ballgame:
The Scrapperettes opponent in Saturday’s 6 p.m. championship contest will be Farmington. They defeated Prairie Grove in Monday’s other semifinal round contest. With yesterday’s win, the Scrapperettes are 33 and 2 on the season.
