Scrapperettes advance to state softball tournament with victory over Crossett

The Nashville Scrapperettes defeated Crossett by a score of 10 to nothing Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the 4A South Region Softball Tournament.  Nashville worked their way to a five to nothing lead, before exploding for five additional runs late in the contest.  Nashville’s 10 runs came on 13 hits.  Scrapperette pitcher Maci McJunkins tossed another no hitter and perfect game for Nashville.

Head Coach Brian “Boomer” Brown said he’s proud of the way his team adjusted to the schedule, after tournament play was postponed both Thursday and Friday of last week:

Saturday’s victory was the 9th consecutive for Nashville and was the team’s 5th consecutive shutout and their 9th consecutive victory.  During that nine game streak, the Scrapperettes have outscored their opponents, 115 to 2.

Saturday’s victory also secures the Scrapperettes a spot in the state tournament, which they will host, Thursday through Saturday.

Today’s schedule features a 12:30 contest against Malvern.  The Lady Leopards defeated Camden Fairview Saturday, 14 to nothing.  Today’s regional finals will be played at 5:30 and the consolation game takes place at three o’clock.
