Scrapperettes are 4A state champs in basketball

Nashville basketball fans will be celebrating the Scrapperettes first ever state basketball championship for a long time.  A sold out 6,500 seat arena in Hot Springs saw the Scrapperettes defeat Farmington, 42 to 41.  With just seconds remaining, Nashville trailed the Lady Cardinals 41 to 39.  Sidney Townsend took the game winning shot, as described Saturday night on the radio by Athletic Director Bunch Nichols:

Following the game, Head Coach Paul Dean he Knew from the start of the season that Farmington and Nashville were the two best teams competing in Class 4A:

At times, Nashville struggled offensively, but Dean said he could always count on the team’s defensive effort to get things going:

Nashville and Farmington both finished the season with a record of 33 and 2.  The Scrapperettes only two losses during the season came against significantly larger schools in Greenwood and North Little Rock,  Both of those teams also won state championships last week in Hot Springs.

Kyleigh Scoggins was named the 4A Tournament MVP

The Scrapper Booster Club announced yesterday they will be selling  state championship shirts in the near future. 

The Scrapperette squad will also be back in the B99.5 studio Tuesday morning at nine o’clock to relive the championship win.
