Scrappers beat Leopards and took home the Saline River Walking Stick Trophy
Friday night, the Nashville Scrappers traveled to De Queen to face the Leopards for the right to retain the Saline River Walking Stick trophy.
De Queen won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. Nashville’s Tre Hopkins scored Nashville’s first touchdown of the game.
Sophomore Tucker Dixon scored next and the Scrappers led 14-0. Not to be out done, sophomore quarterback Karson Chambers would score and following a two-point conversion, the Scrappers led 22-0.
In the second half, Hopkins and Dixon would score two more touchdowns and the mercy rule was invoked.
Nashville’s final touchdown would be a pass from Chambers to Mason Nelson.
The final score of the 96th game between the Nashville Scrappers and the De Queen Leopards was 49 to 0.
This week, the Scrappers will host the 3A defending state champions, the Charleston Tigers. Kickoff is set for 7 pm and can be heard live on B 99.5 and on-line at Southwest Arkansas Radio dot com.
