Scrappers Defeat Malvern In Conference Opener
It took a pair of extra innings Tuesday for the Nashville Scrappers to pick up their first conference win of the season, defeating Malvern 2-1 at Wilson Park.
Each team scored a run within the first three innings but were shutdown until the 9th. A sacrifice fly by Nashville’s Cade McBride was the game winner.
Scrapper pitcher Will Pope threw a two hit complete game for Nashville. It was his second win of the season with both games being a complete game decision. In addition to allowing only two hits, Pope also struck out 10 Leopard batters.
Nashville is now 6-0 on the season. They’ll play their first games away from Wilson Park tomorrow and Friday in the Tri-State Tournament in the Shreveport area. Coach Kyle Slayton says there has been a change in the schedule due to rain that’s anticipated by the weekend.
The Scrappers return to conference play next Tuesday with a road game to Bauxite.
