Scrappers Stay Perfect at 3-0 With 54-34 Win Over Arkansas High
The Nashville Scrappers remained undefeated Friday night, defeating the Arkansas High Razorbacks 54-34 in a high-scoring battle.
Nashville got on the board first in the opening quarter when Jacoby Hopson found the end zone. The extra point was good, giving the Scrappers an early 7-0 advantage.
Arkansas High answered with a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7, but Nashville responded with another touchdown, this time from Keshawn Jefferson.
The extra point was good, putting the Scrappers back in front 14-7.
The Razorbacks answered again to make it 14-14 before Starr scored for Nashville to give the Scrappers a 20-14 lead. The extra point was good.
Arkansas High would tie the game again at 21-21 in the second quarter, but Starr found the end zone once more before halftime. With the extra point good, Nashville carried a 28-21 lead into the locker room.
The Scrappers continued to build their lead in the third quarter. DJ Jefferson scored to make it 34-21.
Nashville had two extra-point attempts nullified by encroachment penalties against Arkansas High. The Scrappers elected to go for two, but Hopson’s attempt came up short.
Starr added another touchdown to extend Nashville’s lead to 40-21. The Scrappers attempted another two-point conversion but were unsuccessful.
Arkansas High answered with a touchdown to cut the lead to 40-27, but the Razorbacks missed the extra point.
Nashville responded with another Starr touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion by Hopson, putting the Scrappers ahead 48-27.
The Razorbacks scored again and converted the extra point, making it 48-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
Jefferson put the game out of reach with another touchdown in the final period. The extra point was no good, but Nashville held a commanding 54-34 advantage.
The Scrappers held on for the 54-34 victory, improving to 3-0 on the season.
