Scrappers win two in Texas
The Nashville Scrappers won their opening two games at the Pittsburg, Texas tournament Thursday afternoon. In game one, Nashville jumped out to a 3 to nothing lead in the first inning against Winnsboro, enroute to a 5 to 1 victory. Kason Willard earned the win for the Scrappers. Willard allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, while striking out two.
In game two, Nashville won in a more dramatic fashion, 5 to 2 against Hooks. The Scrappers trailed 2 to 1, until they scored a pair of runs in the 5th, giving Nashville a 3 to 2 advantage. Nashville added two more runs in the 6th inning, for the victory. Garrett Willard was the winning pitcher for Nashville, going seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking one.
At the plate, Ty Gordon led Nashville on the day, going for a combined 5 for 8 over the two games. The Scrappers play Chisum High School this afternoon, with a scheduled first pitch time of 1:30.
