Second Special Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunt Set for This Weekend in Arkansas

The second of Arkansas’ two Special Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunts will take place this weekend, January 4-5, across all hunting zones. This event follows the first youth hunt, which occurred in early November 2024.

Youth hunters, ages 6 to 15, are eligible to participate, but must have a free customer ID number, available at agfc.com. Youths who have not completed hunter education must be supervised by an adult at least 21 years old, and mentors are prohibited from hunting during the event.

All zone bag limits apply, and the use of dogs is prohibited. Bowhunters are also permitted but must wear hunter orange or chartreuse. Some Wildlife Management Areas and National Wildlife Refuges may have restrictions, so hunters are advised to check local regulations.

The deer season will officially close with the end of archery on February 28.
