Sevier County Hospital Election Tuesday
Sevier County voters will head to the polls tomorrow (October 8) to take part in an election that could provide for the construction of a new hospital. The ballot will include two measures that would fund the construction and maintenance of a new 12-bed hospital facility to be located near DeQueen. The funding would be generated from sale of up to $24,250,000 in bonds and a proposal for a one percent sales tax. County officials said renovating the old facility is not feasible. If the proposals pass, a board of Sevier County residents would oversee hospital operations. The facility is planned to be located about four miles north of DeQueen on Highway 71.
