Slayton Gets 500th Win; Scrappers Prepare For Tournament

Scrapper baseball coach Kyle Slayton celebrated his 500th career win Monday evening as Nashville defeated Magnet Cove 6-5 in the season opener.

The Scrappers will play in the first round of the annual Ralph Gross Memorial Tournament at 5:15 Thursday as they take on Mayflower. Slayton says another outstanding group of teams will participate this year.

Games will continue Friday and Saturday with the championship game scheduled for Saturday night.

Also yesterday, the Scrapperettes softball team opened their season with a 17 to 4 road win at Horatio. The Scrapperettes are scheduled to play in the Arkadelphia tournament at the end of this week.
