Some Nashville City Council Wards modified due to census

Minor changes have been made to boundary lines in three Nashville city wards as a result of last year’s census. At their January council meeting Monday, aldermen approved the newly drawn boundary lines that affect city wards one, five and six. Of those wards, Ward Five is impacted the most, by gaining a few residents from Ward One and by losing some others to Ward 6.
According to the changes approved this week, residents living in the blocks from south of Bishop to east of 4th Street…north of West Shepherd and West of 2nd Street will move from Ward One to Ward Five. Additionally, the one city block surrounded by 4th, Shepherd, 3rd, and West Clark Streets will also move from Ward one to Ward Five.
The other changes will affect residents between Sunset and West Lockesburg Streets to North 12th Street…north of Bishop …eastward to North Main. Those residents have been moved into Ward Six.
No changes were made to wards two, three, or four.
Mayor Billy Ray Jones said none of the presently serving council members were affected by the changes.
