South Pike County school approves bid to upgrade security cameras and door systems
Members of the South Pike County School District held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Board approved several motions such as accepting the resignation of Garrett Gills for school board member zone 4, the resignation of Special Ed Teacher Lorena Slattons, and hiring Sarah Deal as a paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 school year.
Superintendent Tanya Wilcher provided an update during her report about upcoming events for the school district.
Wilcher even mentioned what the building principals discussed during their building academic reports.
Wilcher talked about the New Elementary Principal James Riley being a hands-on motivator with the students and how excited he was to become the building principal of the Elementary School.
Also, during the meeting, the board approved a motion to accept the bid from KLC Video Security to upgrade the camera system and door systems. Wilcher discussed receiving a school safety grant that went towards these upgrades.
Other motions that were approved by the board were a bid from Blackmon Oil for fuel for the 2023-2024 school year, a bid from Lacy Rogers Heating and Air for the air conditioning in the gym, and to accept the ARP Esser Fund Plan as presented.
