South Pike County School Board Approves High-Impact Tutors, Handbook Amendment, and Schedule Change

The South Pike County School District Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, with all board members present.
A public report was presented by Tanya Wilcher, Davey Jones, and James Riley, providing updates on school operations and academic initiatives.
The board unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included:
- Minutes from the September 23, 2025 meeting
- The district’s financial statement
- An amendment to the student handbooks allowing for Connect Care to be recommended in some cases as an alternative to expulsion
In a move to further support student achievement, the board approved a motion to hire high-impact tutors at a rate of $40 per hour. The motion, made by Cory Ballard and seconded by Wes Campbell, passed unanimously 6-0.
The board also voted to reschedule the November board meeting to Thursday, November 13, with mandatory board training to follow. The motion was again made by Ballard, seconded by Campbell, and approved 6-0.
