South Pike County School Board Approves Personnel Changes, Considers Meeting Schedule and Term Lengths

The South Pike County School Board held their regular monthly meeting Monday evening, addressing several administrative matters including staffing, board meeting schedules, and term lengths.

The board approved the hiring of Amanda Buck as a new elementary teacher and accepted the resignation of Kayla White.

Superintendent Tanya Wilcher then proposed a change to the board’s meeting schedule, suggesting that regular meetings be moved to the third Tuesday of each month. Board members agreed to the new schedule beginning with the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. The next meeting is now scheduled for July 15th.

Wilcher also shared details about the information that will be posted on the district’s website.

In addition, Wilcher brought up a discussion regarding term lengths for board members, asking whether they would prefer four-year or six-year terms moving forward.

After discussion, the board voted to adopt six-year terms for future board members.

The meeting adjourned with no additional action items.
