South Pike County School District Board Holds Monthly Meeting, Announces New Passes and Updates

The South Pike County School District Board convened for their regular monthly meeting, where several key updates and decisions were made.
Superintendent Tanya Wilcher presented new initiatives for the upcoming sports seasons. This year, the district will offer season passes for both football and basketball games. The football season pass will be available for $40, while the basketball pass will be priced at $75.

In other business, Wilcher provided an update on the district’s ongoing negotiations regarding the land where the baseball field is located. She revealed that she had discussed leasing options with Delight Mayor Lee Gatliff but found the proposed terms unsatisfactory. Wilcher plans to meet with the Delight City Council on September 9th to seek a more viable agreement for the use of the bus lot.

Additionally, the board approved a bid from First State Bank for a 12-month certificate of deposit (CD) at an interest rate of 5.15 percent on $1.5 million. They also approved the fuel bid from Littlefield Oil for the 2024-2025 school year.
