South Pike County School District completing upcoming projects
Board Members of the South Pike County School District held their regular monthly meeting last week.
Superintendent Tanya Wilcher discussed some of the projects that needed to be finished that were in the debt extension budget. Wilcher stated that the band bleachers were ordered, a ramp will be built on the home bleachers, and the old scoreboard will be removed. Other projects will be the completion of the sidewalk and the completion of the storage building. Wilcher mentioned that the Elementary Principal position is currently open, and applications are being accepted.
There was also a motion made by Board Members Barbie Baxter and seconded by Matt Henderson to adopt the 2023 Election Resolution as presented. Wilcher stated that this means that the Board of Directors of the South Pike County School District requested that the Board of Election Commissioners of Pike County Arkansas open no polling places on the date of the annual school election scheduled to be held on Tuesday May 9th so that the election can be conducted by candidate under the procedure of ACA7-11-070. Wilcher said that the election portion will be done by mail-in and early votes. Wilcher also stated that nothing is changing with millage right now and it’s staying the same.
