South Pike County School District hires First Grade Teacher
Tuesday, Board members of the South Pike County School District passed a motion to hire Jane Caldwell as a first-grade teacher. Caldwell started her teaching career in 1979 at Saratoga Public School as a first-grade teacher. Then from 1981 to 2006 she taught at Murfreesboro Public School as a first-grade teacher and upper elementary teacher. In 2014 Caldwell taught for the Nashville School District for over 7 years as a First Grade Teacher and Learning Loss Coach at Nashville Primary School and now she will be continuing her teaching career at South Pike County School District.
Also, during the meeting, Board Members passed another motion to elect and nominate officers of the school board. Scott Maroon will remain president, Robert Silva will remain as the vice president, and Alyssa Duggan will remain as the secretary.
Superintendent Tanya Wilcher reported that she met with Diamond Bank Representative Will Martin and that the bank will be donating $50,000 to go towards the weight room along with an agreement that the school district stay with Diamond Bank for another year. Diamond Bank also agreed to redoing the scoreboards as well. Wilcher even mentioned upcoming projects that she has in mind along with meeting with construction managers and getting bids from banks.
In conclusion, the Board also agreed with Superintendent Wilcher’s recommendation to set board meetings on the third Monday of each month along with revisions if something comes up on that day and that the next one will be July 17th.
