South Pike County School District hires new Elementary Counselor

Tuesday, the South Pike County School District held their regular monthly meeting.

During the meeting a motion was made by Matt Henderson and seconded by Cory Ballard to hire Rachelle Bonner Erwin as the Elementary Counselor for the 2023-2024 school year.

Erwin started her career in education at Mena Junior High School in 2009. There she coached girls basketball, volleyball, and soccer along with teaching math and history. Erwin also coached and taught at Dequeen, Ashdown, and Blevins. In 2017 Erwin came to Nashville Elementary and taught English Language Arts and one math class. Erwin said-quote “Education has provided me with the opportunity to get to know so many young people who have inspired me and continue to inspire me. I have loved every minute in my profession. “

Also, during the board meeting, Board members approved a motion to hire Grady Jones and Alex Bailey for additional summer work, the resignation of Tyler Simmons, and the retirement of Tonia Briley along with the approval of Dawson Education Service Cooperative Representative Resolution. All were in favor of the motion.
