South Pike County School District Holds Regular Monthly Meeting

The South Pike County School District Board held their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Several key motions were approved during the meeting, including resignations, retirements, reappointments, and the approval of the 2025-2026 school calendar.

The meeting began with a series of resignations and retirements. The Board accepted the resignation of Nicole Martin as the Girl’s Basketball Coach and Sports Coordinator at the end of the school year. The motion, made by Cory Ballard and seconded by Alyssa Duggan, passed with a unanimous 7-0 vote.

Additionally, the Board accepted the resignation of Buster Bonner, effective at the end of the school year. The motion was also approved by a 7-0 vote.

Cindy Cobb’s resignation/retirement was once again accepted, effective at the end of the school year, after a motion from Alyssa Duggan and a second from Robert Silva. This motion also passed 7-0.

The Board then moved to approve the rehire of the list of Certified Teachers as presented. The motion, put forward by Scott Maroon and seconded by Barbie Baxter, passed unanimously with a vote of 7-0.

In further action, the Board approved the 2025-2026 school calendar, which will follow the same alternate calendar format as the current school year. Robert Silva made the motion, with Cory Ballard seconding, and the motion passed 7-0.

Lastly, the Board adopted a resolution to conduct the upcoming school board elections by candidate. The motion, introduced by Alyssa Duggan and seconded by Barbie Baxter, was approved 7-0.

The meeting was concluded with all motions passing smoothly, reflecting the Board’s continued efforts to manage personnel and ensure smooth operations for the district.
