South Pike County School District Names Blevin Boyd as New Girls Basketball Coach
During a special called meeting on Monday, the South Pike County School District Board voted to hire Blevin Boyd as the new head coach for the girls’ basketball team for the 2025-2026 school year.
The motion to hire Boyd was made by Robert Silva and seconded by Alyssa Duggan, with a 5-2 vote in favor. Board members Cory Ballard, Robert Silva, Scott Maroon, Alyssa Duggan, and Wes Campbell voted in favor, while Andrea McRae and Barbie Baxter opposed.

Boyd brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served in various coaching roles across multiple school districts. Currently, Boyd is the head coach for junior and senior boys’ basketball, assistant girls’ basketball coach, assistant football coach, and head girls’ track coach at Spring Hill School District in Spring Hill. He has been in this role since June 2024. Prior to that, Boyd served as the head coach for both junior and senior girls’ basketball and head softball coach at Mountain Pine School District.
Throughout his career, Boyd has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to his athletes. He has mentored over 100 players, emphasizing both physical conditioning and teamwork. Boyd has led several teams to success, including a district championship for the Spring Hill High School senior boys’ basketball team in 2024-2025 and being named the 7AA Coach of the Year for the same season.
In addition to his success in basketball, Boyd has also coached baseball, leading teams to notable accomplishments, including a conference championship and state tournament appearances.
Boyd is a graduate of Henderson State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education.
