State baseball and softball tournaments are underway

High school baseball and softball tournaments begin today across Arkansas.  In 2A baseball, being hosted by Bee Branch and Greenbrier, the Dierks Outlaws will face Bigelow at 10 o’clock this morning.  The winner faces Acorn or Rector tomorrow at 10 A.M.  Also playing today, will be the Murfreesboro Rattlers.  They face Melbourne today 5:30.  The winner plays Friday afternoon against either Buffalo Island Central or Mountainburg.

In class 4A, the baseball and softball tournaments are being played in Nashville through Saturday.  At Wilson Field, the opening round today features four games.  The top four teams include Lonoke, Arkadelphia, Huntsville, and Pulaski Academy.  Those teams all drew a first round bye and will await the winners of today’s four games.

At the Nashville City Park, the 4A State Softball Tournament begins today with four games scheduled.  The Nashville Scrapperettes have a first round bye.  They’ll play tomorrow at 12:30 against either Jonesboro Westside or Morrilton
