State High School Basketball Tournaments Getting Underway

High school state basketball tournaments begin today in Arkansas. The AA tournament features the area’s only two teams who will be playing today.

The Kirby Lady Trojans are ranked second in their classification with a season record of 35 and 5 will open tournament play this afternoon at 1:00 against Western Yell County. That game will be followed by a boys contest at 2:30 featuring the Dierks Outlaws playing Marianna Lee. A pair of back to back losses in the regional tournament not only cost the Outlaws a chance for a better seed in the state tournament but also forces them to play the state’s top ranked boys team in class AA.

KNAS 105.5 FM will have the broadcast of today’s Dierks game from Quitman High School.
