Statewide safety campaign in and around highway work zones

State officials are getting set to unveil a statewide safety campaign effort tomorrow designed to highlight safe driving in and around highway work zones. The Arkansas State Police, highway police and ARDOT are teaming up to have extra enforcement of reckless and distracted driving laws in work zones.
The effort is coming after two Arkansas Department of Transportation workers have been killed on the job in recent weeks.
ARDOT says they are conducting a thorough review of the incidents to make sure crews are following all the proper safety protocols in work zones. The department is also asking citizens to help by practicing safe driving through work zones.
