Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Death of 2-Year-Old in Lockesburg

A 2-year-old girl has tragically died from injuries sustained in an apparent domestic violence incident. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office reports that on the evening of March 1st, 2025, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Lockesburg after Lockesburg First Responders discovered the unresponsive child. Upon arrival, deputies observed injuries consistent with domestic violence.

A potential suspect, identified as 19-year-old Wesley Davis, was detained at the scene and transported to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. The child was immediately transported to Sevier County Medical Center before being transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock for further treatment.

Davis later confessed during an interview with investigators and was booked into the Sevier County Jail on charges of Domestic Battering in the First Degree (Class Y Felony). However, on March 4th, 2025, the child succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 11:28 AM at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Following the death, Sevier County investigators have been in contact with Prosecuting Attorney Jana Bradford, and the charges against Davis are being updated to Murder in the First Degree (Class Y Felony). The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more information from Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to Lockesburg First Responders and South West EMS for their swift action in recognizing the child’s injuries and notifying law enforcement immediately. The department also extended its condolences to the family and friends of the child, as well as to all first responders and medical personnel involved in the case.
