Storm Damage Assessment – Nashville
A damage assessment for the city of Nashville caused by Tuesday mornings severe storms. The main line of the storm came in around 1:00am Tuesday morning bringing rain, hail, and winds upwards of 75mph. Many found themselves without power due to falling limbs, trees, and just the sheer power of mother nature’s wind. Those power outages did continue into the evening for many in the listening area. I met with Justin Thornton of the Nashville Fire Department at 3:30am Tuesday morning as he and his crew were clearing downed trees just southwest of Nashville on Golf Links Rd. Here was his report at that time
Nashville as a whole appeared in good condition but notable damages done included a downed power line that fell onto the Shell Station on South 4th Street – electrical crews were out early to make that repair. What appears to be the most significant damage caused by these straight line winds took place at the sewage plant in south Nashville where the roof above the laboratory was completely taken off.
