Straight line winds cause damage in City of Nashville

Thunderstorms produced significant straight line winds that resulted in damage late Saturday afternoon in the city of Nashville.  Authorities responded to several trees down, including some on residences in town.  A section of West Clark Street was closed to traffic due to a tree completely blocking the street, and also resulting in damage to utility lines.  The storms resulted in over 400 customers being without electricity in the Nashville area.  By early Sunday afternoon, Nashville Public Works crews had removed the tree from Clark Street, allowing numerous electric trucks to begin moving in to start the restoration process.  Areas around 4th and Clark, as well as a section of South 4th Street remained without electric service into the overnight hours this morning.

Just under two tenths inches of rain accompanied the storms.
