Suspect found and arrested in McCurtain County that was connected to a homicide

Chance Cathey was arrested in McCurtain County, Oklahoma on Wednesday, January 17 about 4:30 pm.

Cathey is a person of interest involving a suspected homicide case in Little River County. Cathey is believed to be connected to a body that was discovered in a well on Little River County Road 106.

The body that was found at the bottom of a well on January 2 was identified as 66-year-old Bobby Conley of Tom, Oklahoma.

Little River County Sheriff Bobby Walraven reported his office received a tip on January 2nd concerning a body in a well on Little River County Road 106.

Walraven stated they pumped the well down and discovered what they thought was a body at the bottom. The next day, they took an excavator and excavated down to the bottom, where they were able to retrieve the body of Conley.

Walraven said the body had been in the well for one to two weeks.

According to the investigation, Cathey was considered a person of interest after he was connected to an abandoned vehicle that had been seen in the area.

The Arkansas State Police and the area drug task force are assisting in the investigation.
