Suspects arrested that was involved in a shooting in Hempstead County

An arrest has been made in regard to the shooting that took place in Hope on 4th of July weekend. On July 11th at 12:38pm, a male juvenile, 16 of Hope was arrested and charged with Battery 1st Degree and Aggravated Assault. Also, at approximately 4:30 pm that same day another arrest was made, a 16-year-old male juvenile, who was also from Hope and was charged with Battery 1st Degree and Aggravated Assault. Both arrests were as a result of the investigation into this shooting.

According to police records, that on Saturday, July 1st, 2023, at about 9:41pm, Officers from the Hope Police Department received a call to the 100 block of North Mockingbird Street in Hope in reference to a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a juvenile male, 15, suffering from a gunshot wound. After medical care was provided to the victim, officers and detectives found that the incident occurred at a different location and began processing the crime scene.

The victim was flown to a hospital outside of Hope and is in stable condition.
