Tennessee woman charged with drug charges in Howard County

A traffic stop earlier this month by Howard County Sheriff’s deputies has resulted in drug charges against a Tennessee woman.  Authorities say 44 year old Maryann Sowell of Manchester, Tennessee was the driver of a vehicle traveling on Highway 278.  Deputy Brandon Smith said he observed the vehicle cross the center line multiple times and conducted a traffic stop.  Deputy Smith asked for consent to search the vehicle and was told by Sowell there were illegal drugs inside,   A search of the vehicle revealed a bag in the backseat.  Inside the bag, reports say Deputy Smith recovered a medicine bottle with a clear plastic container with a crystal rock like substance, believed to be methamphetamine.
