Track coaches tell Rotarians – Track team off to fast start
The Nashville track coaches spoke at the Nashville Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday.
Senior High Coach, Rick Baker stated 30 boys are out for this year’s team. He said the distance events will be a strength for this year’s team, but they will be young in the field events.
Baker said senior LD Hendrix currently has the fastest time in 4A in the 100 meter and the fastest time in the state in the 200 meter.
Baker said the goal is to win the District meet, qualify as many as possible for the state meet and compete for a state championship.
Junior High Coach, Jarod Jones reported there were 29 eighth and ninth graders on this year’s team and 39 seventh graders. He said the junior high team won the first two meets they’ve competed in and the seventh and eighth graders earned 85 ribbons at Prescott on Monday.
Jones discussed his expectations for this year’s team.
The Senior High Scrappers will compete in the Wolf Relays this afternoon at Prescott.
