Traffic stop in Pike County leads to drug arrest
On September 1st, 2023 Pike County Deputy Chance Reid conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevy Impala on Arkansas Highway 8 in Glenwood for speeding.
According to the affidavit, the suspect was identified as 57 year William Pate Jr of Glenwood. It was also reported that when deputies asked Pate Jr for his driver’s license, Pate Jr informed Deputy Reid that he didn’t have a driver’s license and allegedly confessed that his license was suspended. It was also reported that deputies ran the passenger Lisa Farmer through ACIC and it was confirmed that her license was suspended as well.
As reported, Deputy Reid then searched the car and in plain view under the front corner of the driver’s seat was a small clear bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Pate was placed under arrest and transported to the Pike County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance schedule 1 or 2, speeding, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and no liability insurance.
