Traffic stop in Pike County results in drug arrest
On February 6th Pike County Deputy Chris Gates conducted a traffic stop near Burnett Road. It was reported that the car did not have tags and officers known the suspect to have suspended driver’s license.
The driver was identified as 28 year old Andrew Howell of Delight. According to the affidavit Gates approached Howell and told him to get out of the vehicle. Gates checked Howell in his computer for warrants.
As reported Gates asked Howell if he had any illegal substance in the vehicle. Howell reportedly reached under the seat and pulled out a small plastic box which contained a small baggy of suspected marijuana, two small baggies containing suspected methamphetamine, and a smoking pipe with suspected marijuana residue inside. Officers also retrieved a pipe and a light bulb with the core cut out with suspected methamphetamine residue inside of it.
Howell was arrested and charged with possession of a scheduled two controlled substance, possession of a scheduled six controlled substance, failure to register vehicle, and driving on a suspended license.
