Traffic stop leads to drug charges
In September, Dierks Police Officer Kyler Turner was patrolling on Highway 70 North of Diekrs when he observed William James Coffman of Dierks driving a gray Chevy Silverado. Officer Turner knew Coffman had a misdemeanor warrant and conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop, Turner asked Coffman if there was anything illegal in the truck. Coffman alledgedly said there was some marijuana and a pipe between the seats.
While searching the vehicle, Turner discovered a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance, a glass smoking device and two syringes with a clear liquid that was suspected to be methamphetamine.
Coffman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
