Traffic stop results in drug arrest
On February 18th at approximately 10:16pm, Murfreesboro Officer Chase Kersey conducted a traffic stop on South Washington Avenue for failure to use a left turn signal. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Jamie Keystone Jackson of Murfreesboro. According to the affidavit, Kersey could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Kersey was then notified by dispatch that Jackson had a search waiver on file. Kersey reportedly asked Jackson to step out of the vehicle and conducted a pat down on Jackson’s person. While Kersey was placing Jackson into handcuffs, Jackson allegedly admitted to having marijuana in his pants. Officers retrieved a clear baggy of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a pack of zigzag with two rolled brown cigarettes with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and a clear baggy with a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. Jackson was transported to the Pike County Detention Facility and being held on Felony and Misdemeanor Possession drug charges.
