Traffic stop results in arrest

On February 12th, Nashville Patrol Officer Dustin Wakefield conducted a traffic stop on a grey Ford pickup that crossed the centerline two to three times as it traveled on south 4th street.
Wakefield reportedly approached the vehicle and noticed the odor of an intoxicant coming from it. The driver was identified as 34 year old Miguel A Chavez of Nashville.
According to the affidavit, Chavez showed Officer Wakefield a sack sitting in the passenger seat that contained beer. Wakefield then asked Chavez to step out of the vehicle. During the search, Wakefield reportedly located an open Bud Light can and noticed a small plastic bag containing a white powder-like substance believed to be cocaine. Chavez confessed to Officer Wakefield that the substance was cocaine.
Chavez was arrested and charged with Drinking on the Highway and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance Cocaine.
