Trial date set for De Queen man allegedly involved in a high speed pursuit

A De Queen man accused of leading police on a high speed pursuit through Howard and Hempstead counties earlier this month has entered a not guilty plea to assorted felony charges. 31 year old Colby Bates is set for a pre-trial date of April 28th and a trial date of May 1st. Bates is charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, Fleeing and Criminal Mischief. Authorities said the incident ended at the Silver Road and Highway 73 intersection, when Bates put his vehicle into reverse and began ramming two Nashville police units and one from the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.
An estimated $25,000 dollars in damage was done to the three police vehicles.
The public defender was appointed yesterday to represent Bates.
