KMTB and KNAS are taking a moment to pay tribute and honor the life of Howard County Quorum Court member, Bobby Don Turner. Turner was born February 8th, 1941, through his loving parents, Lewis and Flossie Turner. Turner was born and grew up in Tollette, Arkansas and graduated High School in 1959 from Howard County Training School. Turner also worked for companies like Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, Ideal Cement Company, and he became a certified Television repair person and a plumber inspector.  Mr. Turner was a faithful member of Tollette First Church of God for 82 years and served as Trustee, Usher, and Deacon.

Committed to a life of service, Mr. Turner was instrumental in the 1972 incorporation of the Town of Tollette, Arkansas.  Turner was appointed to serve as a member of the Howard County Hospital Board for many years, until he was elected to the Howard County Quorum Court in 1984 as Justice of the Peace, a position previously held by his father, Lewis Turner.

Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton spoke on behalf of Howard County Quorum Court, and he expressed how deeply saddened he was to hear the passing of Mr. Turner.

Bobby continued to serve on the Quorum Court until his final days. As his last act of service to the community of Tollette, Turner initiated the creation of the Map of Crofton Cemetery; a gift that will serve Tollette for centuries to come.

Mr. Turner’s motto was “If I can help somebody, I know that my living shall not be in vain;”.
