Trumann resident arrested in Nashville

Nashville police say a Trumann resident was arrested locally over the weekend. 22 year old Gyasi Benson was detained following an incident that occurred on North 11th Street. Police Chief Amy Marion said police received a report indicating Benson was brandishing a firearm to a large group of people at the address. Officers Jimmy Steely and Greg Parker, along with Sergeant Ty Basiliere responded to the call and located a firearm in Benson’s vehicle. A large bag of suspected marijuana was also recovered, according to officers. Benson was arrested without incident and taken to the Howard County Jail.
Benson is facing charges that include Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm By Certain Persons, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms.
