Tuesday Election Results Around The Area

Tem Gunter was named to serve on the Nashville School Board Zone Five seat in Tuesday’s primary election. In Howard County, Gunter finished with 135 votes. Hempstead county numbers showed him receiving 88 votes and Gunter picked up one vote in Pike County for a combined total of 224 votes. Misty Wilson received 54 votes in Howard County, another 60 in Hempstead County and a single vote in Pike County for a combined total of 115. Gunter will succeed Randy Elliot who retired last month after serving 25 years on the school board.

There was one other school board race in Howard County yesterday. Robert Hawkins was re-elected to the Zone Two seat at Mineral Springs. Hawkins received 58 votes. Verna Hockaday had 25.

In a pair of statewide judge races, Barbara Womack Webb carried Howard County. She received 903 votes. Morgan “Chip” Welch finished with 700. For the Court of Appeals Associate Judge, District 4 Position 2, Stephanie Potter Barrett received one thousand two votes while Emily White finished with 605.

In the Presidential race, Howard County’s Democratic voters chose Joe Biden. President Trump carried the Republican votes in Howard County.

Pike County voters elected the same candidates as Howard County with the exception that Emily White won the race for the Court of Appeals Associate Judge position.
