Two Injured in Explosion at Danson’s Plant in Hope Industrial Park
Two individuals were injured in an explosion that occurred Monday afternoon at Danson’s manufacturing facility in the Hope Industrial Park at Oakhaven. According to Hope Fire Chief Todd Martin, fire crews were called to the scene at 3:40 p.m. following reports of the blast.
Firefighters worked diligently to contain the situation, with crews still on-site around 5:30 p.m. dealing with smoldering debris inside a bin at the plant. “We’re continuing to monitor the area to prevent any further flare-ups,” Chief Martin stated.
The two injured individuals were airlifted to medical facilities, with at least one being transferred to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport for treatment. Their identities and the extent of their injuries have not yet been released.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, with no immediate details on what led to the incident. Danson’s, a company that manufactures wood pellets used for grills, has not issued a statement at this time.
Local authorities are working with federal safety agencies to determine the cause and ensure the safety of surrounding areas.
The Hope Fire Department is expected to continue its investigation, with more updates to be provided as new information becomes available.
