Two men arrested in Dierks on drug charges
A two month narcotics investigation conducted by the 9th West Drug Task Force and Dierks Police Department led to the arrest of two people Monday evening when law enforcement personnel executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence on 6th Street in Dierks. The two men taken into custody were identified as 61 year old Jesse Price of Dierks and 42 year old John Smith of Mena. Authorities said they recovered approximately eight grams of suspected methamphetamine, numerous smoking pipes, a set of digital scales, numerous small plastic zip lock baggies, and a glass jar that contained suspected marijuana. A firearm was also recovered at the residence.
Price is being charged with Possession of methamphetamine, with purpose to deliver. He is also being charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, and for Maintaining a a Drug Premises.
Smith is being charged with Possession of a Schedule Two Controlled Substance–Methamphetamine and with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both men were transported to the Howard County Jail.
Agencies participating in Monday’s operation & arrests included the Drug Task Force, Dierks Police Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police.
