Tyson Foods of Nashville celebrates not having any loss time accidents in 52 weeks
Wednesday, July 17, Tyson Foods in Nashville celebrated the fact that the plant’s 1,400 employees have not had a loss time accident in 52 weeks, that’s 2.6-million-man hours.
Tyson management started working to decrease the number of OSHA reportable injuries in 2010. A reportable injury is any injury that results in time off from work, work restrictions, medical treatment beyond first aid or loss of consciousness.
In 2010, the Nashville Tyson plant had 74 reportable injuries that number is down to four this year. A senior member of the Tyson management team stated the leadership team at the Nashville plant was proactive when it came to safety, and they make safety a priority.
Tyson team members were joined by Roy Gullick from the Arkansas Department of Economic Development, Developing Howard County executive director Vanessa Weeks, Developing Howard County board members Paul Britt and Charles Smith, Republican candidate for Arkansas House of Representatives District 88, Dolly Henley, Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton and Nashville Mayor Larry Dunaway in celebrating the 2.6 million hours without a loss time accident.
